Ten Lined June Beetle (Polyphylla decemlineata)

They originate from Canada BC. The 5 WC pairs started laying eggs approximately on July 20/06. The eggs started to hatch on Aug 18/06. Eggs were incubated at a pretty steady temperature of 20*C. Larvae should be separated, other wise they tend to cannibalize on each other.

Females: get 1 1/4- 1 5/8 inches (32- 34mm) long. Measuring from the top of the wing cases to the bottom of her abdomen, the females were 12mm thick.

Males: get 1 1/4- 1 5/8 inches (32- 34mm) long. Measuring from the top of the wing cases to the bottom of his abdomen, the males were 8-9mm thick.

Diet: Larva; (Oak, Chestnut and Birch?). Beetles; Apples, Bananas, etc. especially soft sugary foods.

Eggs.

L1 maggot.

Female.

Wild adult male. Found him in 2005, while on a camping trip in Okanagan, BC Canada.

Their habitat in Okanagan.
